Hello everybody
by JulieM inhi everybody, my name is julie, and this is my first post.. i'm a third generation jw, or at least i was until a two weeks ago, when i was announced as no longer a jw.
i'm really happy about that, ecstatic in fact, although i'd been a jw all my life, and i'm 37 now.
i could have disassociated like my friends, but i couldn't be bothered to play their chikdish game, so i let them do it for me.

Mr. Flipper & Mrs. Flippers 1st Wedding Anniversary Today !!!
by flipper inhello my friends .
well, i just wanted to share our special day with you guys too , because you folks have become close like family to us !
for mrs. flipper and myself being in our late 40's, early 50's, with all the challenges we had over the years before we met, being with the wrong people who took advantage of our kindness when we were both in other relationships , we truly do feel it is a miracle that her and i finally found each other later in life and found real happiness in a marriage.

by DannyHaszard inthis is maine my homestate so i couldn't let this pass.

I sent this:
Having been born and raised a JW, I say bollocks on their building.
The "volunteers" are all brainwashed slaves, captivated by alluring promises of future paradise, accepting failed prophecies adjusted by "new light."It is really sad and annoying to see this waste of labor and time.
These "builds" are nothing more than a way to prop up a wealthy, cultish book publishing company, masquerading as a religion.
The volunteers have been duped, I am sorry to say, at the expense of their mental health and often at the expense of their families and friends outside their insular congregations.
If Jehovah is all they say they believe him to be, then he needs no witness and no kingdom hall.

Staying a Christian Upon Leaving
by serotonin_wraith inso you found out the jehovah's witness religion/cult was bogus.
congratulations, it's a step in the right direction.
now all you have to do is escape the cult of christianity.. while other christian groups are (perhaps arguably) less controlling (on the whole), the foundation christianity rests on is bogus too.

It's all good.
No, it's not.
Fundamentalism is not good.
Theocracy is not good.
The Crusades are not good.
Crucifiction is not good.
Self-abuse is not good.
Abusing others in the name of god is not good.
War justified in the name of the supernatural is not good.
Believing Armageddon or in human sacrifice is not good.
Beating children who don't sit quietly through a nasty sermon about hellfire or everlasting death is not good.
Bribery, witchhunts, and torture in the name of confession of real or imagined sins is not good.
Public executions for questioning the Taliban's restrictions are not good.
Blaming victims of illness for their lack of spirituality is not good.
Divisiveness of humanity reinforced by strict and irrational religiosity is not good.
Irrationality is not good and religion is irrational.
Period.

nobody should insult, condemn or criticize what another person believes
Why not?
Don't we criticize what the JWs believe and how their beliefs cause them to act irrationally and hurtfully?
Ideas and beliefs that are irrational and that promote pain and suffering as the will of the immaterial supernatural beg to be criticized and questioned.

So that's what the other shoe looks like. Update with my parents
by Paralipomenon inheading to the apostafest this weekend, we have made a deal with our friends to look after our kids.
given that they already have 3 children, adding 3 more could be stressful so we thought we would ask my parents if they wanted to take one overnight.
bobbi mentioned that she hadn't really heard much from my mom and suspected something was up.

That is precisely the attitude that I think messes kids up. Mom is so used to being in control of the situation, when shunning isn't convenient she flips, when she's feeling guilty, the shunning resumes.
I've been through this a few different times with my family. It really hurts because they always find a way to blame you for it, rather than admitting to their own issues.
Sorry you're going through this, especially during this time of the year. At least you will be able to enjoy the holidays with your immediate family as you all see fit, and that's what really matters most - living your own lives as best you can.
